If you think about it, all the people in a society form a distributed system. However, there is still some trusted 3rd party to provide some sort of centralization/mediation. That is what we call a government.

So … research is something that can reduce one human being’s life to mere needs to eat and sleep, while masking all other needs and desires. Well the strange part is before reaching that state, there are tons of uneasy and frustration, once in that mode, you feel sort of … comfortable.
